Crowns and Bridges
Each and every one of your teeth is important for your quality of life. If you have a damaged or missing tooth, there is no need for you to suffer. For our patients in Chester, you can rely on Carpenter Place Family Dentistry to restore your teeth to great condition. Tooth repair will lead to better functionality when you speak and eat, as well as improved appearance, which will improve your self-confidence.
What is a crown?
A dental crown is a way to permanently repair a damaged or discolored tooth. Crowns restore the shape, strength, and appearance of teeth, protecting the weak roots of teeth from tooth decay and restoring function. The crown is essentially a tooth-shaped cap that sits on top of the remains of the natural tooth, generally made out of porcelain. The crown functions exactly like a normal tooth, except it is not vulnerable to tooth decay. You can go back to eating comfortably and smiling without worrying about unsightly damaged teeth.
What is a bridge?
A bridge is an alternative to a crown if you are missing one or more teeth. A bridge consists of one or more porcelain replacement teeth with crowns on either end to serve as anchors. A bridge creates a brand new smile, filling in the gaps left by missing teeth and protecting the teeth on either side from tooth decay. Dental bridges are not suitable for everyone, but we have found that many of our patients in Chester have benefitted from this treatment.
